Nutcracker Lorain

Posted November 14, 2018 in Press Releases

Blending Lorain Counties history with a beloved holiday tradition, Neos Dance Theatre is again bringing A 1940’s Nutcracker to the Stocker Arts Center for performances Dec. 14th at 11 a.m., December 15th at 7:30 p.m., and Dec. 16th at 2 p.m.

Nutcracker Lorain

“The Nutcracker” is one of the most widely celebrated ballets in the world, and we’re proud to give Northern Ohio and Lorain County a uniquely crafted version of its own,” says Neos co-founder Bobby Wesner.

Hand-drawn and meticulously animated visual effects, created by Andy Gardner and Kathy Hilton, set the stage for A 1940’s Nutcracker. The story line incorporates Ohio characters such as Bogie and Bacall — danced by Bobby Wesner and his wife, Brooke — and their famous marriage at Malabar Farms.

A 1940’s Nutcracker also features Neos dancers Matthew Roberts and Kassandra Lee as Johnny and Marie, Anna Trumbo as Mae West and partnered by Kaleb Reilly, Juliana Freude as a member of the Woman’s Club, Katherine Tackett as a Kline’s department store employee, plus many more set to a backdrop of Lorain County sites such as the Palace Theatre and Lighthouse, National Tube Company, the Chronicle-Telegram, and more.

Joining the Neos dancers are students from Neos Center for Dance, the official school of Neos Dance Theatre, under the direction of DeMarcus Suggs Akeem. Students from surrounding communities are also involved bringing the cast size to over 55 dancers.

Tickets begin at $15 and can be purchased from the website https://www.lorainccc.edu/stocker/ , by calling 440-366-4040, or on location at 1005 N. Abbe Road, Elyria, OH 44054.

Neos Dance Theatre’s 2018-19 season is funded in part by the Nord Family Foundation as well as sponsorships by Mind Body Align, Richland Source, and generous individuals.
